A.I. Authentic Intelligence “The Heart of Discipleship”

Several years ago I took team to a training seminar on intentional discipleship. We had an amazing time in this great church and learned a lot about building lives.

During our experience we played several games that helped us go to deeper levels of understanding of group dynamics and personal awareness. On the last day, the last session we played a game that had a slight twist. I found myself in a very interesting spot.

The game went like this...you held a ball and tossed it to another person in the room. Who ever you tossed the ball to you them blessed, encouraged, or asked them for forgiveness.

So...i am sitting there watching this game unfold as others are tossing and catching, hearing words that refresh and build up until the ball comes to me. The person tossing the ball was our leader for this experience. I catch the ball and this person says...please forgive me...I thought you were a jerk. What? A jerk...really? I put on my best Christian smile and offered my forgiveness and thought...wow. Being judged is not fun....why did this person think that...what did I do...they didn't even know me and I got judged based on what. This hurts!

The sad truth is that this happens all the time...especially in Christian circles. We judge... we are known for it. I don't think we are any worse than people who don't follow Jesus and that is really sad...we are to be different. Intentional discipleship means living a different way.

Jesus address this and much more here in Luke 6. We pick up where we left off last week and once again discover that we need a heart change.
